Milt Hinton Obituary
Jazz bassist and photographer Milt Hinton died Tuesday in New York at the age of 90. His musical career spanned 70 years, and he played bass with almost every great 20th century jazz musician from Louis Armstrong and Cab Calloway to John Coltrane.
Melody Maker Closes
The famed British music magazine is being absorbed by another publication after 74 years of making pop bands and driving the British music scene. The Maker, as it was known, publishes it's final issue today. It championed jazz, pop, and rock, from Louis Armstrong to Oasis. NPR's Rick Karr reports.
Arab Tenors and Qantara
A new CD entitled The Two Tenors and Qantara offers highlights of a five-hour concert of Arabic music that took place last spring in Las Vegas. The "two tenors" are Wadi Al Safi and Sabah Fakhri.
