MU Welcomes New Jazz Studies Director and Choral Faculty

MU School of Music

There are several new faces in the MU School of Music for the new school year that started two weeks ago. A recent episode of Mizzou Music introduced listeners to a pair of new faculty in the school and a post doctoral fellow familiar to attendees of the recent Mizzou International Composers Festival.

At this past summer's Mizzou International Composers Festival, Carolina Heredia had a new work premiered by Alarm Will Sound. The 2017 resident composer is now a post doctoral fellow in the MU School of Music. She recently talked with Classical 90.5's Trevor Harris about her new role.

New episodes of Mizzou Music air each Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. on Classical 90.5.

Trevor serves as KBIA’s weekday morning host for classical music. He has been involved with local radio since 1990, when he began volunteering as a music and news programmer at KOPN, Columbia's community radio station. Before joining KBIA, Trevor studied social work at Mizzou and earned a masters degree in geography at the University of Alabama. He has worked in community development and in urban and bicycle/pedestrian planning, and recently served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Zambia with his wife, Lisa Groshong. An avid bicycle commuter and jazz fan, Trevor has cycled as far as Colorado and pawed through record bins in three continents.
